Nationwide Arena – Columbus, Ohio
TV: FDSNOH; Radio: 97.1 FM
San Jose Sharks (32-31-7, 71 points, 6th Pacific, 12th West)
at
Columbus Blue Jackets (38-23-11, 87 points, 3rd Metro, 7th East)
Just 10 games left in the regular season, and the Eastern race is as close as ever.
Up next is the Sharks, who have fallen behind but have had a better than expected season thanks to giving their young stars a chance to break out. Hmm, do you think that’s a model worth following?
In unrelated news, Kent Johnson and Dimitri Voronkov return to the Columbus lineup today.
Jake Christiansen joins the D corps in place of Damon Severson, who is “week to week” after suffering an upper body injury in the last game. So, don’t expect Sevo to play again in the regular season. Hopefully he can be ready to go in the playoffs…if we make the playoffs.
Around the league, the Senators and Lightning are tied after two periods, and the Islanders are leading the Panthers 5-2 at the start of the third. Hopefully the Bolts can rally, but the Cats will not be doing us any favors. So, we need to win to stay ahead of the Isles. The last remaining game of note is Flyers at Red Wings at 8 PM on ABC. That is a likely elimination game if either team loses in regulation.
Also playing at 5 PM, like us, are the Bruins (hosting the Wild) and the Penguins (hosting the Stars).
