Detroit Red Wings prize prospect Trey Augustine was in goal for Michigan State Saturday when it squandered a two-goal lead late in regulation and lost 4-3 in overtime to Wisconsin in an NCAA regional final.

This was a Michigan State group that had high hopes of reaching the Frozen Four.
Wisconsin scored two goals in 34 seconds to tie the game 3-3 and then won it 24 seconds into overtime on a shot from near the blue line that took a strange bounce into the net behind Augustine
Augustine turned down the opportunity to turn pro last spring to make another run at a national championship. The Red Wings are expecting Augustine will now turn pro and probably play minor league games this spring. TSN’s Craig Button recently named Augustine the No. 5-ranked NHL-affiliated prospect.
