ST. LOUIS — It’s not every weekend that fans in St. Louis get to experience a full slate of professional sports all in one day. But this Saturday, the city was alive as three of its teams — the Battlehawks, Cardinals, and Blues — all played at home, creating an electric atmosphere downtown.
From football to baseball to hockey, fans packed venues across the city, embracing a rare moment that highlighted just how deeply sports are woven into St. Louis culture.
For Battlehawks fan Tanner Sellinger, the energy was unmistakable.
“It feels like America,” he said with a laugh, summing up the excitement surrounding the day.
The triple-header brought together fans from across the region, including many from nearby communities who don’t often get to experience big-league sports in one place.
“Coming from a small area in southern Illinois, you don’t have much of a presence other than SIUE, the college,” Blues fan Peyton Level said. “So, coming up here and seeing everybody combined — it just brings unity to the city.”

That sense of unity was on full display as fans moved between stadiums and arenas, often cheering for teams outside their usual favorites.
“I just think it’s cool that all of the different teams have their different fans,” said Blues supporter Dorthy Wunderluch. “But on a day like today, when they are all playing on the same day, you see baseball fans go to hockey games. It’s just cool to see everything mixed together.”
The crossover fandom reflects a broader pride in St. Louis sports — something that extends beyond individual teams.
Even those within the professional ranks recognize the importance of giving back to such a passionate fan base. Ricky Proehl, head coach of the Battlehawks and a former St. Louis Rams player, said the mission is clear.
“Bring a championship — that’s our goal. Bring another one to St. Louis,” Proehl said. “This city has been unbelievable. They are the best sports town in our country, and they deserve another championship.”
With packed crowds, shared pride, and nonstop action across multiple venues, fans said the weekend served as a powerful reminder: when it comes to sports, St. Louis doesn’t just show up — it shows out.
