ALBANY, N.Y. (KQDS-TV)- On Sunday, the UMD men’s hockey team faced off against top-seeded Michigan in the NCAA Regional Finals, with a trip to the Frozen Four on the line.

The Wolverines had a monster first period, taking a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs into the break.

Over in the third, UMD got on the board after Zam Plante found Harper Bentz to make it a 3-1 game.

However, Michigan answered back with a goal of their own to take a 4-1 lead mid-way through the third.

But the Bulldogs weren’t backing down. Ty Hanson knocked down the power play goal to make it 4-2.

Under three minutes left in the game, UMD found the back of the net after Scout Truman tracked down a rebound and hammered home the goal.

UMD cut Michigan’s lead down to one.

Sadly, the Bulldogs were unable to find the equalizer, as they fell 4-3 to the Wolverines.

The Bulldogs close out the year with a 24-15-1 record.
