An interesting development is currently unfolding for general manager Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

However, the unexpected strong play of Jayden Struble lately may have canceled that significant roster move for the Montreal Canadiens.

In recent weeks, many fans and observers had been strongly calling for the recall of young David Reinbacher.

Everything pointed toward it happening soon!

On social media, the excellent Patrick Guillet even admitted he has changed his opinion on this hot topic.

According to him, Struble has been so effective since returning to the lineup that he fully deserves to keep his spot.

As a result, general manager Kent Hughes no longer has any urgency to bring his first-round pick to the NHL.

Unless there is a sudden wave of injuries, the Austrian defenseman should logically finish the current season with the Laval Rocket.

In the AHL, David Reinbacher will have the opportunity to play heavy minutes to continue his development, which is obviously a very good thing.

Jayden Struble’s surge delays Canadiens recall plan for David Reinbacher

Arriving at next training camp in peak condition will become his main objective for next season.

Next year, the young defenseman will try to earn a regular spot with the big club.

Nevertheless, one specific scenario could still allow fans to see him in action before the end of the regular season.

If Martin St-Louis’ group manages to officially clinch a playoff spot early, the pressure will drop significantly, and he could be given one or two games to finish the year.

Nothing would then prevent Kent Hughes from recalling him to give him a first taste of the National Hockey League.

Until then, Jayden Struble’s solid play ensures strong stability for the Canadiens’ defensive unit.

“I was among those calling for David Reinbacher’s recall over the past two or three weeks.

However, it must be acknowledged that Jayden Struble’s recent success since returning to the Canadiens’ lineup has somewhat changed my view.

As a result, barring injuries, the Austrian defenseman could finish the season in Laval, where he would have the opportunity to log heavy minutes and continue his development.”
