The Dallas Stars have added some extra support, as injuries continue to ravage their forward group.

Dallas recalled forward Cameron Hughes from the Texas Stars on Monday morning, the team announced. Hughes is expected to join the Stars for the final game of their East Coast road trip in Boston on Tuesday.

Since the road trip began Thursday, the Stars have lost three forwards to injuries — Sam Steel to a lower-body injury Thursday against the Islanders, Nathan Bastian to a hand injury Saturday against the Penguins and Michael Bunting to a lower-body injury Sunday against the Flyers.

The Stars also remain without Radek Faksa (lower body) and Roope Hintz (lower body). Faksa has not played since the Olympics, and Hintz has played just one game since. Both players have begun skating and are expected to return closer to the playoffs. Forward Tyler Seguin, who tore his ACL in December, is out for the season, bringing Dallas’ injury total to six skaters.

Steel is expected to miss at least a week with his injury and left the team’s road trip early to head back to Dallas and be further evaluated. The team has not provided timelines for Bunting’s or Bastian’s returns.

“You can see the schedule is taking its toll on teams, and it’s certainly taking its toll on us right now on the road,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said after Sunday’s overtime loss in Philadelphia.

Hughes could make his Dallas Stars debut Tuesday in Boston, if needed. The 29-year-old has two games of NHL experience but has not appeared in an NHL game since 2021.

He has spent the last two seasons with the Texas Stars, achieving a career-best in points and assists this season. He leads the AHL with 50 assists and shares second with 66 points.

The Edmonton, Alberta, native was originally selected by Boston in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 2015 NHL draft. Both of his NHL games played were with the Bruins.

The Stars also recalled Arttu Hyry from Texas about a month ago to fill in for some of the injured forwards. Hyry scored his first NHL goal Sunday against the Flyers.
