LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — With only eight games left in the regular season, the Vegas Golden Knights made a major shakeup.

The team announced Sunday that it fired head coach Bruce Cassidy and replaced him with John Tortorella.

Cassidy led the Golden Knights to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup championship in his first season as head coach, but the team hasn’t returned to the final round since then.

Entering Monday, Vegas sits in third place in the Pacific Division with 80 points and a record of 32-26-16. The team is 3-5-2 in the last 10 games.
