The Florida Panthers (35-35-3) will try to climb back above NHL .500 when they host the Ottawa Senators (38-25-10) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena in suburban Sunrise

Florida played a pretty good road game, but could only get one fluky goal past Igor Shesterkin in Sunday’s 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Jesper Boqvist and rookie Mike Benning assisted on the goal, which came off the stick of struggling Mackie Samoskevich with 41 seconds remaining in the tilt. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 21 of 23 shots faced, but couldn’t come up with a save on Conor Sheary’s shorthanded breakaway earlier in the third.

After winning four-straight and then collecting another point in a shootout loss to Pittsburgh, the Senators got doubled-up 4-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena on Saturday, leaving them two points out of a playoff spot. Dylan Cozens and Jordan Spence staked Ottawa to a two-goal lead, only to see the Lightning score twice in each of the final two periods to get the win.
