Connor Ingram and the Oilers will host Philipp Grubauer and the Kraken on Tuesday night as NHL play continues.

The Edmonton Oilers will welcome the Seattle Kraken to Rogers Place on Tuesday night for a Western Conference matchup that may not have playoff implications on the line as the regular season enters its final stretch, but will have pride on the line. The Kraken have officially been eliminated from playoff contention as the team currently sits in fifth place in the Pacific Division standings with a record of 32-29-11 for a total of 75 points. This marks the third time in four years that the Kraken have missed a shot at the playoffs. The Oilers bring a record of 37-28-9 into Tuesday night’s game for a total of 83 points in the Pacific Division and they are currently sitting in second place with a definite spot in the playoffs.

The Kraken had lost four games in a row before beating the Lightning last week in overtime, but on Saturday, the team dropped another game to the Sabres in a shootout. Chandler Stephenson opened the scoring for Seattle to take a 1-0 lead in the first and Bobby McMann extended that lead in the second. Buffalo brought it within one with a goal shortly before the end of the second and forced overtime with a goal in the final half of the third period. The game remained tied through the overtime period, but Philipp Grubauer failed to stop the game-winner in the shootout.

The Oilers bring a three-game win streak into Tuesday night’s game with the most recent being a 4-2 win over the first place Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night. Edmonton saw goals from Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, Jack Roslovic and Matthew Savoie in the win while Connor Ingram stayed strong between the pipes, finishing the game with 29 saves. The Oilers now trail the Ducks by just four points and continue to close in on that division title.

The Oilers and Kraken last met in early December and Edmonton won handily in a 9-4 victory at home. McDavid recorded a hat trick in the win while Savoie finished the game with a brace. Tune in Tuesday night to see if Edmonton can extend its win streak to four games.
