Charlie Cerrato is turning pro.

The standout forward is foregoing his final two years of collegiate eligibility and signing a professional tryout with the Chicago Wolves, the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, who selected him No. 49 overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, the team announced on Tuesday.

In two seasons at Penn State, Cerrato tallied 22 goals and 47 assists. His 42-point rookie campaign marked the second-highest point total by a Nittany Lions freshman and earned him Big Ten All-Freshman team honors.

Cerrato missed 15 games during his sophomore season due to an injury he suffered in early January. He returned for two games in March but was again injured in Penn State’s 3-1 loss to Minnesota Duluth in the NCAA Tournament.
