Matt Grzeclyk and Artyom Levshunov are set to miss the remainder of the season for the Chicago Blackhawks. Andrew Mangiapane will return.
On Tuesday, March 31, Chicago Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill officially announced that Artyom Levshunov and Matt Grzelcyk will miss the remainder of the year.Â
Artyom Levshunov
In the Chicago Blackhawks win over the New York Islanders, Artyom Levshunov fractured his hand. The 20-year-old defenseman continued to play through the injury for multiple games.Â
The Belarusian defenseman had a volatile year. He showed many flashes of promise, while also having multiple costly slip-ups. The Michigan State product ends his season with 24 points, two of which are goals. His 22 assists were 5th among rookie skaters in the NHL this year, all through 68 games played.

Matt Grzelcyk
Matt Grzelczyk has been a welcome addition to the Chicago Blackhawks. Originally signed as a free agent halfway through training camp, Grzelcyk quickly became integral to the defense and a mentor for the young core.
A veteran of over 500 NHL games, Matt Grzelcyk finishes the season with 12 points, all assists. He suited up in 69 games for the Chicago Blackhawks this season before being injured in a contest against the Nashville Predators.
Andrew Mangiapane to Return:
Some good news to give Chicago Blackhawks fans a break is that Andrew Mangiapane is set to return. Mangiapane was the secondary piece in the trade that sent Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach to Edmonton. Quickly, Mangiapane’s impact became noticeable. He quickly stood up for his new teammates and was a scrappy third-line winger for the team before going down with an injury.Â
Head coach Jeff Blashill has started to ramp up Mangiapane’s involvement in preparation for the rest of the season. So far, the Toronto native has tallied one goal and one assist through seven contests with the team.
