LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Trey Augustine will not play his senior year in green and white after agreeing to a three-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
Augustine’s three-year deal will begin next season, as the 21-year-old will finish this season with Detroit’s AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, on an amateur tryout.
Detroit selected Augustine in the second round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and the South Lyon native will now turn pro after posting a .922 save percentage and a 66-25-7 record over 99 games in net for the Spartans, helping them win three straight Big Ten regular season titles.
