The Montreal Canadiens (43-21-10) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (46-22-6) 4-1 on Tuesday night at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa. The Lightning saw their point streak end at eight games.
Tied 1-1 after the first period, Cole Caufield scored what would prove to be the game-winner for Montreal midway through the second period. Montreal added two empty-net goals to make it a 4-1 final score. Jake Guentzel scored the only goal for Tampa Bay in the first period.
The Lightning are next in action when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Penguins is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Thursday night in Tampa.
