San Jose Sharks forward Igor Chernyshov is considered a game-time decision on Wednesday due to illness against the Anaheim Ducks.
Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters after an optional morning skate that forward Ty Dellandrea would play if Chernyshov can’t go.
Yaroslav Askarov will start tonight’s Sharks game against the Ducks.

Chernyshov has been a big boost to the San Jose Sharks’ top line of Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. After returning from a concussion, Chernyshov has three points (two goals, one assist) in four games.
“He’s so big, he’s so fast. I think the D, they panic when he’s on them, because he’s such a big body,” Celebrini said after Monday’s 5-4 win against the St. Louis Blues. “As long as he’s skating and doing his thing and creating turnovers, we’re gonna have a lot of success.”
Dellandrea has been out since Jan. 6 with a lower-body injury. The Sharks forward went sliding hard into the post against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dellandrea has played 42 games this season, scoring two goals and five assists. He’s been a key penalty killer and the top face-off man (52.3%) for the San Jose Sharks. Dellandrea is also right-handed, which is very valuable for face-offs.
Tonight’s start time is 6 p.m. PT rather than the traditional 7 p.m. PT due to the national TNT broadcast. Warmups will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m., and clarification on Chernyshov’s status will take place then.
