In latest Chicago Blackhawks news, Anton Frondell tallied his first goal, Adam Gajan signed his entry-level deal, and Oliver Moore could play again this season?
The Chicago Blackhawks will begin their final road trip of the season on Thursday as they take on the Edmonton Oilers in Western Canada. The game kicks off a three-game west coast trip that includes stops in Seattle and San Jose. However, the team’s final four games after the trip are all at the United Center.
Regardless, there has been a lot of action over the last 24 hours for the Hawks. Let’s dive into some of those news and notes.
Anton Frondell’s First Goal… with a New Number
On Tuesday night, Anton Frondell made his United Center debut with a new jersey number. After donning #15 in four games on the road, Frondell switched to #16 once the team returned to Chicago. The reason? Frondell wanted to honor his mentor in Djurgarden, former Blackhawk Marcus Kruger.
After tallying four assists on the road, Frondell finally found the back of the net in the overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. It was a beautiful play as Frondell’s new line featuring Tyler Bertuzzi and Ilya Mikheyev was DYNAMIC on Tuesday.

Frondell is already looking like a superstar at just 18 years of age. The Swede will be a force to reckon with in future seasons.
Adam Gajan Signs on the Dotted Line
2023 second-round pick Adam Gajan has signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the Blackhawks. The goaltender finished his second collegiate season at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and will be in the pipeline beginning next season.
However, fans will have a chance to see him in pro action this season. Following the contract news, Gajan also reportedly signed his ATO with the Rockford IceHogs, meaning he will get game action with the IceHogs down the stretch.
After a rough freshman season at Minnesota-Duluth, Gajan rebounded nicely in his sophomore campaign. In 33 games, Gajan recorded a 2.25 goals against average (GAA), .908 save percentage, and a 19-13-1 record with two shutouts.
More…. Moore?
According to Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill on Wednesday, forward Oliver Moore has an outside chance to play before the conclusion of the season. That said, take that with cautious optimism, as there is also a fair chance Moore’s season is done.
If Moore’s season is in fact done, the speedy forward tallied 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 51 games. Moore flashed at times as a winger, but really found a home as a center. That said, the Blackhawks may be LOADED at center, with Connor Bedard, Anton Frondell, and Frank Nazar looking like their potential 1-2-3 down the middle. That said, Moore’s speed can still be a game breaker if he plays on one of the aforementioned players’ wings.
What’s On Tap Next?
