Tyson Foerster is back in the Philadelphia Flyers lineup tonight (Thursday, April 2, 2026) against the Detroit Red Wings.

dailyfaceoff.comHe’s returning after a 49-game absence due to an upper-body/arm injury he suffered on December 1, 2025 (hit by a slap shot). He underwent surgery in mid-December and was initially expected to miss about five months, which would have kept him out for the rest of the regular season (ending April 14).
Recent developments changed that quickly:
He’s been progressing well in recovery.
He skated with the main group (including a regular black jersey at morning skate, not a non-contact one).
GM Danny Briere noted he’s “getting closer and closer” and that Foerster is the type to push for an earlier return.
He was on the top line in morning skate alongside Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett, and also on the No. 1 power-play unit.
“He brings a lot of things. Hockey IQ is outstanding, shot ability, plays in all situations. He’s a hockey player, we are excited for him.” – Rick Tocchet on what Tyson Foerster brings to the lineup

This is a huge boost for the Flyers as they fight for a playoff spot — Foerster was off to a strong start before the injury (10 goals in 21 games). He replaces Noah Cates in the lineup, with Denver Barkey shifting down to the third line.
The Flyers are going for it
Foerster is back, Martone is on the team. Martrone burned a year of his ELC, they are trying to push for the playoffs.
