The Utah Mammoth (38-30-6) and the Seattle Kraken (32-30-11) meet Thursday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (Hulu). Let’s analyze NHL odds around the Mammoth vs. Kraken and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Season series: Mammoth lead 2-0
The Mammoth doubled up the Kraken 6-3 as moderate favorites (-188) as the Over (5.5) cashed in the most recent head-to-head meeting — Jan. 17 in Salt Lake City. On Dec. 12, also in SLC, the Mammoth won 5-3 as -200 favorites with the Over (5.5) hitting in that one, too. The Mammoth have won 3 in a row in this series — the first victory in April 2025 — outscoring the Kraken 18-7 with the Over going 3-0. The home team is 5-0 in the past 5 meetings, and the Over is 4-0-1 in that span.
Utah is coming off a 6-2 pounding of the LA Kings Saturday as slight road underdogs (-104) as the Over (5.5) cashed. C’s Logan Cooley and Alexander Kerfoot each lit the lamp twice, while D Mikhail Sergachev tied a franchise single-game record with 4 assists. The Utah offense averaged 4.0 goals per game (GPG) in the past 4 games, while the Over connecting in each of those outings.
The Mammoth sit in the top wild card spot with 82 points through 74 games. Utah has a plus-23 goal differential, fourth-best in the Western Conference. The Mammoth are 4 points ahead of the Kings, who currently occupy the West’s second Wild Card spot, just a point ahead of the San Jose Sharks, who have a game in hand. The Nashville Predators also have 77 points through 74 games, the Winnipeg Jets have 76 points, and the Kraken have 75 points with a game in hand on the Kings.
So it’s no secret that Thursday is an important game for the Kraken. They laid an egg in Edmonton Tuesday, falling 3-0 as moderate underdogs (+155) as the Under (6.5) cashed. The Seattle offense could muster no support for G Philipp Grubauer, who actually did a decent job in allowing 2 goals on 23 shots.

Karel Vejmelka (33-19-3, 2.69 GAA, .899 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Joey Daccord (19-18-6, 2.92 GAA, .901 SV%, 2 SO)
Vejmelka allowed 2 goals on 31 shots in Saturday’s win in L.A., but he has been a bit erratic for the Mammoth lately. He was just 5-4-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .886 SV% with 1 shutout in 10 starts and 1 relief appearance in March.
Daccord has allowed 4 goals apiece in back-to-back games, going 0-1-1 with a 3.86 GAA and .843 SV% in the span. He has struggled in March, worse than Vejmelka, going 2-5-1 with a 3.54 GAA and .880 SV% in the month.
Mammoth at Kraken picks and predictionsPrediction
Mammoth 4. Kraken 3
The MAMMOTH (-135) are worth playing on the road, as they look to break a 5-0 record by the home team in this series since Utah relocated from Phoenix.
Utah has just been a little more effective lately, while Seattle (+115) has really struggled. While the Kraken are in the mix for a wild-card spot, the clock is ticking.
The Kraken (-210) are just too expensive if you prefer some insurance by taking a goal and a half and you can’t bring yourself to play Seattle straight up.
As mentioned, the home team has won the past 5 meetings, but the way Seattle is going lately — 1-4-2 in the past 7 games and 3-8-2 across the previous 13 — the Kraken cannot be trusted.
AVOID.
OVER 6 (-120) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.
The Over is 6-3-0 in the past 9 games for Seattle, and 3-1-1 in the past 5 home contests.
For Utah, the Over has hit in 4 in a row, scoring 4.0 GPG, while allowing 4.25 GPG.
