We have a very interesting development with the Montreal Canadiens, live from Madison Square Garden.
This raises real questions ahead of tonight’s game against the Rangers.
We know a nasty virus is currently circulating in the Canadiens’ locker room, as Josh Anderson can unfortunately attest, so this situation will be closely monitored.
If Danault is unable to play tonight, could Patrik Laine make an unexpected return to the lineup?
Phillip Danault was absent this morning at MSG and was replaced by Patrik Laine in the top-12 forward group
Here is an excerpt from the Canadiens’ official release.
“The Canadiens held a very brief morning skate at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. With Phillip Danault absent from practice, here’s how the Habs lined up:”

We can clearly see that Patrik Laine has been inserted on the fourth line.

That is certainly intriguing!
It would be a great story at this stage of the Montreal Canadiens’ regular season if Patrik Laine were given another opportunity to prove himself.
Quietly, he has participated in all optional skates and has displayed an absolutely outstanding and exemplary attitude throughout the season.
