ALBANY — Sen. Dan Stec, R-Queensbury, and Assemblyman Scott Gray, R-Watertown, welcomed and honored the Potsdam Central High School girls hockey team during separate legislative sessions Tuesday.

The team won the NYSPHSAA state championship on Feb. 21 with a 3-2 victory over Adirondack United in Utica. Stec and Gray introduced a legislative resolution recognizing the players and coaches.

“Winning a state championship is an incredible accomplishment and deserves to be celebrated,” Stec said. “It was my pleasure to spend time with the Potsdam High girls hockey team, personally congratulate them and honor them on the Senate floor with a legislative resolution. Congratulations again to the Lady Sandstoners and the Potsdam community.”

“It was a true honor to welcome the Potsdam Lady Sandstoners to the People’s House,” Gray said. “Watching a group of young athletes from our district reach the pinnacle of high school sports is inspiring. Formally recognizing their hard work and grit on the Assembly floor was a highlight of the session. Their 3-2 victory to clinch the state championship wasn’t just a win for the school; it was a win for the entire North Country.”
