The Columbus Blue Jackets have just suffered a major loss within their defensive corps.
This surgical procedure unfortunately brings a definitive end to his NHL regular season.
General manager Don Waddell confirmed the unfortunate news to fans.

Before this unfortunate incident in Montreal, the defenseman was having an excellent season.
He currently ranks second among his team’s defensemen in scoring this year, behind star player Zachary Werenski.
His +18 rating highlights just how important he has been on the ice for the Jackets.
His average ice time of over 21 minutes per game will leave a massive void to fill on Columbus’ blue line.
A full rehabilitation process now lies ahead for Severson.
