The Philadelphia Flyers (37-26-12) visit the New York Islanders (42-29-5) Friday. Puck drop from UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, is set for 7 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Let’s analyze NHL odds around the Flyers vs. Islanders odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Season series: Flyers lead 2-1 with the Over also 2-1. The last meeting was a 4-0 Isles win in Philly Jan. 26 as -110 favorites with the Under (5.5) coming through.
The Flyers fell 4-2 as -105 home favorites against the Detroit Red Wings Thursday with the Over 5.5 cashing. RW Travis Konecny netted his 27th goal of the season and RW Tyson Foerster scored his 11th, but the Flyers couldn’t solve Red Wings G John Gibson. Philly has dropped 2 straight and trail Ottawa for the final Wild Card spot by 2 points with 7 games remaining.
The Isles also enter on a 2-game skid, recently falling 4-3 as +140 underdogs at the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday with the Over (6) hitting. C Bo Horvat assisted on all 3 New York goals. Trailing 4-2 after a Buffalo empty-netter, C Brayden Schenn scored with just 1 second remaining for the final result. He has 5 goals and 5 assists in 13 games since coming over from the St. Louis Blues.
The Isles are just 3-5 in their last 8 outings. With 6 games to go, New York is 3 points behind Pittsburgh for second place in the Metropolitan Division and 1 point up on Columbus for third. In a tight Wild Card race, the Blue Jackets, Red Wings and Ottawa Senators each have 88 points and are real threats to pass the Islanders and keep them out of the playoffs.

Dan Vladar (24-13-7, 2.50 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Ilya Sorokin (28-20-2, 2.59 GAA, .910 SV%, 7 SO)
Vladar allowed 5 goals on 17 shots in a 6-4 loss at Washington Tuesday. He has allowed 3+ goals in each of his last 3 starts. He last faced the Islanders in March 2025, stopping 26 of 29 shots in a 4-3 OT road win while with the Calgary Flames.
Sorokin stopped 29 of 32 in the 4-3 loss to Buffalo Tuesday. The league-leader in shutouts has been feast or famine of late. He had 3 starts allowing 5+ goals in March but also had 4 starts allowing 1 or fewer. Sorokin is 1-0-1 with a 1.45 GAA and .936 SV% in 2 starts against Philly this season.
Flyers at Islanders picks and predictionsPrediction
Islanders 4, Flyers 1
The Isles have the rest advantage and a big goalie boost. You can opt for the puck line, but ISLANDERS (-150) is at a great price at home with the aforementioned advantages.
You can consider Islanders -1.5 (+165) for a good return here. They’re just not playing well enough for me to take that plunge. Instead, I’ll take a shot at BRAYDEN SCHENN ANYTIME GOAL (+340) for twice that return. He has goals in 3 straight games and clearly has benefitted from the change of scenery.
Each team is 5-5 O/U in their last 10. I like the Under better, but it really could go either way at 5.5. So, I’m going to take FLYERS UNDER 2.5 GOALS (-105) for a similar price. They’re on a back-to-back against an elite goaltender that could shut them out. The price is about the same, and if this doesn’t cash, the Under probably doesn’t anyway.
