Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Damon Severson will miss the rest of ​the season following ‌shoulder surgery, the team announced Friday.

Severson, 31, had the procedure Thursday. He sustained the ‌injury ​after absorbing ⁠a check from ⁠Zachary Bolduc in the third period of a 2-1 loss to the ​Montreal Canadiens on March 26.

Severson has recorded ⁠32 points (eight ⁠goals, 24 assists) and ​a team-best plus-18 rating ​in 71 games this season.

He ‌has 348 points (81 goals, 267 assists) in 855 career games with ⁠the Devils and Blue Jackets since being selected by New Jersey ⁠in ‌the second round ⁠of the 2012 ​NHL ‌Draft. He was ​traded to ⁠Columbus on June 9, 2023 in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
