We witnessed a notable moment last night after Jack Hughes’ second goal against the Montreal Canadiens.
It’s excellent, and part of a true winning team, to see teammates “challenge” each other to maintain the highest competitive standard.
In short, a video sequence involving Cole Caufield and forward Zachary Bolduc is currently generating significant buzz online.
Mike Veenie notably highlighted a specific play where Caufield was visibly very upset with Zack Bolduc’s lazy defensive effort, which directly led to a goal.
Rather than keeping his frustration to himself, number 13 showed his emotions right on the ice.
You can clearly read on Cole Caufield’s lips, as he looks directly at Bolduc in the corner of the rink, telling him: “What are you doing?”
Accountability as a key factor in becoming a true Stanley Cup contender for the Montreal Canadiens
Although this type of sequence may seem negative at first glance, many fans and observers view the moment very positively.
Holding teammates accountable is essential!
It is this internal accountability and daily standard of excellence that pushes a team from being a young rebuilding group to a legitimate contender for top honours.
By not hesitating to call out a teammate for a clear lack of effort, Caufield is demonstrating strong leadership qualities, proving he does not tolerate half-measures!
The message is now clear in the Canadiens’ locker room: if you are not skating both ways, you will hear about it from the team’s leaders.
You can see Caufield’s reaction in the scene below:
