There’s something especially harsh about the 6-7 meme for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After all, the last time the Leafs played in (and won) a Stanley Cup Final was 1967.

It’s been a long road since then, and that includes a brutal 2025-26 season that finishes far outside the playoffs.

And on Saturday night, the Leafs played in Los Angeles against the Kings and found that meme on the final scoreboard.

It read Kings 7, Maple Leafs 6.

Yep, 6-7 against the Maple Leafs.

Here the 6 7 joke actually makes sense, because the Maple Leafs haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967

It’s clearly not a common score in the NHL.

In fact, NHL Scorigami shared that a 7-6 game happens just 0.3% of the time across the league’s history.

It happened this time, though, and it’s the kind of loss that is particularly painful.

Maple Leafs fans hoping for draft positioning might be glad that Toronto only got 1 point, not 2.

But the players on the ice will feel this loss particularly harshly. Scoring six goals and still losing certainly stings.
