The Chicago Blackhawks captured two points from the Kraken in Climate Pledge Arena. Connor Bedard and Ilya Mikheyev both had two points.

The Chicago Blackhawks held on to a big victory in Seattle. Ilya Mikeheyev, Connor Bedard, and Sacha Boisvert led the way for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Sacha Boisvert: Welcome to the Show

In his fifth NHL game, Sacha Boisvert finally broke through and recorded his first goal. The Boston Terrier call-up has looked solid in his first four games and was finally rewarded for his effort. Boisvert’s hard work got the puck low to Landon Slaggert. Meanwhile, Kevin Korchinski cut low to the net. With a smooth skate to stick play, Korchinski found Boisvert in the slot, who beat Phillip Grubauer clean.

The former first-rounder’s goal proved to be the deciding factor in the 4-2 win for the Chicago Blackhawks.  When asked after the game, Sacha commented: “Felt amazing, it was a big goal, makes it even better.”

Chicago’s Line Two of Doom (Name Still in Works)

With the Chicago Blackhawks being eliminated from the playoffs, Jeff Blashill has tinkered with the lines a bit. And he may have just found a gem in the second line. Ilya Mikheyev, Anton Frondell, and Tyler Bertuzzi have been stellar together. On Saturday night, the line was involved in two of Chicago’s goals. Ilya Mikheyev led the line with the two points, including the empty-netter.

Tyler Bertuzzi extended the lead on the team for most goals as well. With 30 seconds left, Chicago hit Seattle with a quick counterattack. Ilya Mikheyev passed the puck over to Anton Frondell. Frondell whiffed, but the puck got stuck in Jayden Schwartz’s skates, and Bertuzzi buried the puck.

The members of the line have now scored or assisted on five of the Chicago Blackhawks’ last seven goals.

Kevin Korchinski: A Renaissance

Kevin Korchinski has been a polarizing player for Chicago Blackhawks fans. Taken seventh overall in the 2022 draft, Korchinski had a rough rookie campaign. The former Seattle Thunderbird has seen success in the AHL with Rockford, but it has never translated.

This recent call-up, however, Korchinski hasn’t been noticeable. In the best possible way. The Saskatoon native has been +1 and has not been on the ice for an opponent’s goal in the last four games. His 72.44 Goals on-ice 5v5 expected goals percentage (the amount of quality chances given up, compared to the chances created) led the team. Despite his previous hardships, Korchinski has looked more than solid for a Chicago team finding its identity down the stretch.

Frank Nazar: The Hot Hand

If there was one word to describe Frank Nazar, it would be streaky. After breaking his jaw in December, Nazar struggled to regain his form. Good news, he found it.

The Michigan product has been stellar since March 3rd. In 17 games, Nazar has notched 15 points, including his first multi-point game against the New Jersey Devils recently. As Connor Bedard’s production has taken a slight dip to just under a point per game, Nazar has stepped up.

Tonight, Nazar and Bedard combined for an assist on Tuevo Tervainen’s power-play goal that broke open the scoring for the Hawks.
