New Jersey Devils head coach had plenty to say about the Montreal Canadiens before their matchup, targeting one player in particular.

Sheldon Keefe had high praise for Cole Caufield.

In a clip shared on X, the Devils bench boss made extremely respectful comments about the evolution of number 13.

“He’s a tremendous player, he’s really feeling it right now. His ability to get the puck off his stick, create shots for himself, beat goalies clean, it’s impressive.”

What stands out most in the opposing coach’s remarks is his complete and honest analysis of Caufield’s game.

“I think his game is much more than just scoring.” he added, acknowledging that the forward has become a far more versatile threat on the ice for opponents.

Keefe also noted that he had a front-row seat for the young American’s early days in the NHL while coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“I was in Toronto right when he entered the league and got to watch him closer. Certainly now he’s found another level as his game builds season over season.” he concluded.

It is evident that opposing teams are closely watching Caufield, who is having a dream season and is closing in on the prestigious 50-goal mark.

Keefe also praised the work of Martin St-Louis and the Montreal Canadiens organization as a whole.

The Canadiens now return to action against the Devils at the Bell Centre in a back-to-back, coming off last night’s shootout win.
