Announced attendance was 18,347 for Saturday’s Edmonton Oilers game at Rogers Place, but were they off by one?

A woman went into labour during the game, with Sportsnet’s Scott Oake making the announcement live on Hockey Night in Canada.

“Breaking news, we have word that someone has gone into labour here tonight. There’s a baby being born on the seventh floor at Rogers Place as we speak,” Oake said. “Someone’s going to have a great story to tell.”

While a woman did go into labour during the game, Daily Hive can confirm that the baby born wasn’t born at Rogers Place. The mother-to-be headed to the hospital.

“A fan went into labour during the game, was assisted by medical staff and transported to hospital. That’s all the information we have at this time,” an OEG Sports & Entertainment spokesperson told Daily Hive.

“Hoping for the birth of a healthy new baby and looking forward to congratulating the family.”
