SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – A women’s hockey team will soon join Saginaw Valley State University athletics.
The team will be a part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II.
The program comes as women’s hockey continues to grow in the Mid-Michigan area. Team USA won Olympic gold this year, and the Professional Women’s Hockey League held two events in Detroit that drew large crowds at Little Caesars Arena.
The program will begin in the upcoming 2026-2027 season.
There will be an “open prospect skate” on April 17 and the 18 at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena on Bay Road.
