St. Louis sports fans already have been working overtime this year to figure out where to watch the Cardinals. Now, they will have to do the same next season with the St. Louis Blues.
Main Street Sports Group, which owns FanDuel Sports Network, recently told NHL and NBA teams that it’s pulling the plug on the network later this month. FanDuel will carry first-round coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and then cease operations. That means the Blues must find a new television or streaming partner for the 2026-27 season.
“We are preparing to wind down our operations upon seasons’ end unless we reach a strategic transaction,” a spokesperson for Main Street Sports said in a statement. “We’re pleased to finish out the NBA and NHL seasons, and we appreciate the collaborative relationships we have enjoyed with our team and league partners as well as the connections we have fostered with local fans.”
The Blues did not immediately respond to St. Louis Public Radio’s request for comment.
The move also means more than two dozen people who work for Main Street Sports Group in St. Louis will lose their jobs. The company filed a notice with the State of Missouri saying it intends to close its downtown office and lay off 25 employees beginning April 14.
In February, the Cardinals announced that Major League Baseball would take over production of most game broadcasts this season. MLB is producing and distributing all of the games not shown exclusively on national television. The move ended the team’s yearslong relationship with FanDuel Sports Network and Main Street Sports Group.
It is unclear who will broadcast the Blues games beginning in 2026-27. Some NHL teams have already created their own networks, including the Detroit Red Wings. The team’s ownership formed Detroit SportsNet, which offers streaming, local television and cable options for fans.
