The Sabres have “drastically improved their sales numbers for retail and game day merchandise,” with sales at the Sabres Store “up 25% from last season,” according to Michael Petro of the BUFFALO NEWS. That includes a boost from a line of Olympic merchandise and “beer sabres that sold out quickly.” Western N.Y. retailer BFLO Store has seen sales numbers for Sabres items “up by almost 30%” from last season at the BFLO Store’s four locations and from online purchases nationally and in Canada – and that is “without getting the expected boost in sales now that the team has clinched a playoff spot” and postseason gear comes out. Sabres COO & President of Business Operations Pete Guelli said, “Anything we put out, the response has been overwhelming.” Retailer Dave & Adam’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Athlete Relations Chris Bandura said that the company, which sells licensed Sabres apparel, has also seen a “huge uptick” in sales around Sabres products and merchandise. BFLO Store owner Nathan Mroz said that this type of “significant climb in sales has a similar feel” to the momentum that occurred for Bills apparel and items when the team broke a 17-year playoff drought in 2017 (BUFFALO NEWS, 4/5).
