Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki addressed the situation around Cole Caufield’s push for 50 goals after the loss to the Devils.
This narrative had even been fueled by head coach Martin St. Louis himself, who candidly admitted that his players were trying too hard to find number 13 on the ice.
However, Nick Suzuki offered a completely different perspective on the situation.
In a clip shared on X, the star centerman firmly rejected the idea that the group feels excessive pressure or is trying to force Caufield’s 50th goal.
“I don’t think so. I mean, he’s finding good spots. We always try to look for him, he’s a great goalscorer.” – Suzuki

Suzuki also made sure to point out that Caufield still put himself in good scoring positions throughout the game.
“He hit a lot of chances tonight, it just didn’t go in. I don’t think anyone is trying to force anything to happen. I think we just gotta continue to play and it’ll happen for him.”

This statement highlights Suzuki’s unifying leadership.
By offering this perspective, he shields both his team and Caufield from media pressure that could become even heavier heading into the end of the regular season.
It will be interesting to see whether the players validate their captain or their head coach in their next matchup Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.
