The past few hours have been filled with emotion, pressure, and frustration for the Montreal Canadiens players.

One day after a tough 3–0 loss to the New Jersey Devils, where the tension surrounding Cole Caufield’s pursuit of his 50th goal was palpable on the bench and on the ice, the organization made an interesting decision today.

As journalist Stu Cowan pointed out on X, Martin St-Louis’ group has been given a full day off today.

The team will not hold a practice at the Brossard sports complex this Easter Monday.

A necessary mental break to relieve pressure for Cole Caufield and his Montreal Canadiens teammates

This break away from the ice comes at the right time for the Canadiens, who seemed to be playing with a heavy burden on their shoulders last night.

Taking advantage of this holiday to rest with family will allow the players to decompress, clear their minds, and release the mounting media pressure that is becoming overwhelming.

Number 13 will also have the opportunity to step away and refocus before heading into the final stretch of the season.

The Canadiens will need to recharge quickly, as the Florida Panthers arrive at the Bell Centre as early as Tuesday night.

Cole Caufield, 25, is a 5-foot-8 forward and a first-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2019. He is currently chasing his 50th goal of the season.

Do you think Martin St-Louis made the right decision by giving everyone a full day off today?
