The Devils have struggled in recent games and have had up and down results including a 4-3 shootout loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. On Sunday, however, the team bounced back to beat Montreal in a 3-0 shutout, putting a stop to the Canadiens’ eight-game win streak. Timo Meier opened the scoring in the first period to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room for intermission. Cody Glass extended the lead just before the second intermission and Connor Brown added one more goal with just three minutes remaining in the game. Jacob Markström finished the game with 18 saves on the night to earn the shutout.

The Flyers have been making a late-season push for a playoff spot and cannot be totally counted out just yet. The team has won two games in a row, including a 2-1 overtime win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday, and could now end a five year playoff drought with a strong finish in the final five games. Against the Bruins, Christian Dvorak gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game. The team still led going into the third, but an early goal from Boston sent the game into overtime when neither side could break the tie. Halfway through the overtime period, Porter Martone beat Joonas Korpisalo in net to earn a much-needed win.

With the season dwindling down, both teams have a lot on the line. The Devils will be playing for pride and to stay out of last place while the Flyers are fighting for a playoff spot after missing the cut for the last five years. Tune in Tuesday night to see if the Devils can prevent those postseason hopes or if the Flyers can stay alive.
