Daniil Tarasov played the full game between the pipes for the Panthers, making 18 saves in the loss. With the team officially eliminated from postseason play, the remainder of the season will be spent trying to climb out of last place.

The Canadiens also dropped a game on Sunday in a 3-0 defeat to the New Jersey Devils, breaking an eight-game win streak. The Devils opened the scoring in the first and found the back of the net in each of the other periods, as well. Jacob Fowler made 17 saves in net for the Canadiens on 19 shots, with the last goal being on an empty net.

The Panthers and Canadiens last met in early January in Montreal and the Canadiens picked up an impressive 6-2 victory in front of a home crowd. Sam Bennett scored both goals for Florida while Montreal saw a hat trick from Alexandre Texier.
