On April 13, the NCAA Division 1 men’s hockey transfer portal opens and goes until April 27. It allows undergraduate players to switch schools. Graduate players, however, can transfer at any time.
The transfer portal has become increasingly popular in recent years. Players are no longer forced to sit out a season. It’s a mix of players being pushed out by their teams and those who feel they can produce in better situations.
This story will track all the New England Division 1 programs and what they’re doing: who they’re gaining and who they’re losing.
