It’s one of those sports weeks in the State of Colorado, particularly for fans of the guys on ice at both Blue and Ball Arenas, respectively.
The Colorado Eagles kick off the first round of the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup Playoffs, Wednesday night April 22 at Blue Arena vs. the San Diego Gulls.
Game Two will be Friday night of the best-of-3 series, with Game Three on Sunday afternoon if necessary.

The Colorado Avalanche already lead the Los Angeles Kings 1-0, after defeating them in Game One of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night at Ball Arena in Denver.
Game Two will be played this evening before heading to Los Angeles for Games Three and Four, with Game Five coming back to Denver if necessary next Wednesday, the 29th. The NHL first round is a best-of-7 series.
Both teams have high expectations going into this year’s playoffs, with the Avalanche being the #1 seed in the Western Conference, with the Eagles being the #2 seed in the Pacific Division of the AHL.
The Eagles, of course, are an affiliate of the Avalanche.

The Avs in particular are widely favored to be the team to beat in the NHL this spring, with the largest number of believers across the Internet and television predicting they will be the ones to hoist the cup this year when it’s all said and done.
The Eagles, for their part, are also getting their due across the AHL, while coming out of a trickier playoff format where the Pacific Division has to play a best of three to send their most talented teams into the division’s semi-finals.
