The Minnesota Wild had plenty of things to blame their Game 3 loss against the Dallas Stars on, with their dreadful 1-for-7 powerplay performance being one of them. However, one player who took the loss especially hard for the Wild was Danila Yurov, thanks to an ill-timed puck over the glass delay of game penalty in the second overtime period. The Stars were able to capitalize on the powerplay opportunity, and head coach John Hynes made sure not to blame his rookie, according to Michael Russo via X, formerly Twitter.

“He was obviously upset, and I couldn’t imagine a young kid like him the way that he must have felt. And I thought it was important that he recognized that the game’s not on him. It was a mistake,” Hynes said. “We all make mistakes. He wasn’t the only one in the game, and to keep his head up. And we got his back, and don’t sit on it.”

“It’s playoffs. We win as a team, we lose as a team. It’s not on one guy. I think he felt better, and I’ll check in with him again today to just make sure he’s doing okay, but I know he’s supported by his teammates as well.”

Yurov had a solid rookie season for the Wild, playing in 73 games in his first season in North America. He had 12 goals and 15 assists in a depth role, which is all the Wild really needs as Stanley Cup contenders. It seems the trust the rookie built with his head coach isn’t lost, and he could be a factor for the Wild if they want to get back in the series.
