With the Dallas Stars entering the offseason, Jamie Benn’s playing future will be a key topic of discussion.
Benn, the team’s captain, told reporters Saturday that he’s going into the summer preparing to play next season. While the 35-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent, he seems certain about where he would like to play next.
“I don’t see myself going anywhere else. This is all I know,” Benn said.
Benn was originally selected by the Stars with the 129th pick in the 2007 NHL draft. He became the longest-tenured captain in franchise history, posting 956 points in 1,192 games over 16 seasons.

Benn endured some struggles during the team’s latest postseason run, posting just one goal and two assists. Stars general manager Jim Nill and owner Tom Gaglardi previously said there’s a place for Benn on Dallas’ roster as long as he wants it.
