The NHL is investigating the Ottawa Senators due to some actions that were directed towards Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz during warmups ahead of Game 3.

A second consecutive overtime victory on Thursday night gave the Leafs a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Ottawa Senators in the renewed Battle of Ontario.

Given that nothing worked during Games 1 and 2, the Senators reportedly tried to get into the Stanley Cup Champion’s head during the pre-game warmups in Game 3, but those attempts are now being investigated by the league, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Following Dreger’s initial post on ‘X’ long-time Senators reporter Bruce Garrioch noted that Senators players were lobbing pucks at Stolarz.

Everyone understands that you want to do anything to gain an advantage, but this takes things a tad too far. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, given the immaturity of the Senators and the emotion they felt playing in front of their home crowd.

While it may result in nothing more than a fine for the team, the Senators may want to have a lengthy discussion with their players, specifically Brady Tkachuk, who is supposed to be a leader.
