A concerning scene at the Brossard training complex this morning for Montreal Canadiens fans.

Dobson has been listed day-to-day with an upper-body injury since the start of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He has not played a single game in the playoffs.

Seeing Matheson skating alongside him, away from the main group, raises questions.

Is the 32-year-old defenseman dealing with an issue?

Patrick Guillet was the first to report Matheson’s presence on the ice with Dobson, questioning whether it was normal.

“Mike Matheson joins Noah Dobson. Is it normal for the defenseman to be on the ice an hour before practice?”

Maxime Truman then shared the news, asking the question directly: “Should we be worried?”

The Montreal Canadiens cannot afford to lose Mike Matheson in the middle of this series

Matheson has played in all four games of the series and is the most-used defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens under head coach Martin St-Louis.

On Saturday night, he logged more than 23 minutes of ice time.

Losing Matheson would significantly weaken the Canadiens’ defensive corps.

He does appear to be dealing with something, having recently required treatment days, and now this!

Will Matheson join the group for regular practice?

We should have answers in the next few minutes.

This is a situation to monitor very closely ahead of Game 5, Wednesday night in Tampa.
