Vancouver Canucks defenseman Derek Forbort may be willing to stay on the organizations blue line if they decide to make this key offseason move.

Originally, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin expressed his interest in bringing back the reliable defender for another season, but Forbort has other plans.

Canucks have shown interest in trying to get Forbort back, but I’m hearing as of now he most likely will hit the market – Rick Dhaliwal on Sportsnet 650’s Halford and Brough.

Derek Forbort May Decide to Return to the Vancouver Canucks if they Hire Kevin Dean

Now, with new head coach Adam Foote leading the way and looking for assistant coaches to aid him, a big name mentioned that would be a great fit is Kevin Dean, who served behind the bench for the Chicago Blackhawks for the last two seasons.

Lots of teams after assistant coach Kevin Dean who was let go in Chicago.

Would not be surprised if he is on the #Canucks radar.

Dean was the defense coach for the Boston Bruins when Derek Forbort was apart of the organization and reportedly had a great relationship, and Vancouver insider Rick Dhaliwal believes that if the Canucks bring him on the staff, Forbort may change his mind in testing free-agency.

Although plagued with injuries all season long, Forbort is a reliable stay at home defenseman that the Canucks could really use if he is healthy, especially for games coming down the stretch battling for a playoff spot.
