The Minnesota Wild will have to continue their second round playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche without center Joel Eriksson Ek.

Eriksson Ek has yet to play in the second round for the Wild due to injury. The center was instrumental in Minnesota’s opening series against the Dallas Stars, scoring three goals and five points in six games. However, Eriksson Ek was injured in Game 6 after awkwardly hitting the boards during play and has been ruled “day-to-day” with a lower-body injury ever since.

Unfortunately, the Wild will have to play on without Eriksson Ek for Game 4 of their series against the Avalanche, as writer Michael Russo of The Athletic reported that the center will miss Monday night’s game.

As for when Eriksson Ek could return to the Wild’s lineup, it’s uncertain as of now. According to Russo, Eriksson Ek is “touch and go” so it’s possible he could return later in the series. The center was a limited participant in the team’s practice prior to Game 3, but we’ll just have to see how things go from here.

This season, Eriksson Ek played 70 games with the Wild, scoring 19 goals and 51 points for the team during that time span.
