Kelowna Rockets captain Carson Wetsch has signed his entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks.

Wetsch, drafted by the Sharks in the third round of the 2024 NHL draft, signed the three-year deal Wednesday.

According to PuckPedia, the $2.99 million contract is worth $850,000, $900,000 and $950,000 over the three years at the NHL level and $85,000 a year at the minor league level.

It also includes signing bonuses of $97,500 each year.

Wetsch had 22 goals and 72 points in 65 regular season games while adding four points in eight playoff games.

“Carson is a player who earned everything through hard work,” said Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton.

“He came to Kelowna, took on the captaincy, and was exactly what you;d want from your leader every night.

“He is hard on pucks, responsible in his own end and committed to winning. He plays a heavy two-way game and his compete level never wavered all season.”

Wetsch would have been eligible to re-enter the NHL draft if he did not sign his entry-level contract before June 1.
