A controversy has erupted just hours before Game 7 between the Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres.
The NHL published events on its social media accounts that already assume the Sabres have won the series against the Canadiens.
And this is exactly the kind of blunder that quickly gets people talking in the hockey world, especially when it involves a team like the Montreal Canadiens.
“They leaked the script.”
A sarcastic remark that perfectly sums up the feeling among all Canadiens fans after this strange publication.
The NHL already published third-round events assuming the Sabres as the Hurricanes’ opponent
The NHL is apparently finding new ways to embarrass itself.
“Apparently the NHL has already assumed Buffalo has won the series.
Is the fix in?
The image clearly shows that the NHL’s official Facebook events mention the Sabres as participants in the third round of the playoffs.
Game 1 of the third round at KeyBank Center is already scheduled for Monday, May 25.
Game 2 on Wednesday, May 27.
Game 3 against the Hurricanes on Friday, May 29.
And Game 4 on Sunday, May 31.
All of these events assume that the Sabres will eliminate the Canadiens in Game 7 tomorrow night.
This is exactly the kind of mistake that should never happen within a professional organization like the NHL.
How can official events be published assuming one team’s victory before the decisive game has even been played?
It is a complete lack of respect toward the Canadiens and all of their fans.
And above all, it raises questions.
Now we wait to see how the league will officially respond to this. And whether the Canadiens will use this controversy as motivation to deliver an inspired performance tomorrow night at KeyBank Center!
