Riot police use tear gas against Canadiens fans in downtown Montreal

The Montreal Canadiens clinched a berth in the Eastern Conference Final thanks to a Game 7 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo last night.

As you can imagine, the streets of Montreal were full of celebrating fans last night, but it wasn’t all fun and merriment in La Belle Province. There were reports late yesterday evening that riot police had been deployed in downtown Montreal after some fans got a bit too rowdy.

According to a report from the Montreal Gazette, police were even forced to use tear gas on some unruly fans.
