The struggling Team USA group meets Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider and the Germans today in a game that will play a big role in determining whether the Americans will qualify for the quarterfinals.
The Americans have work to do in Group A because Switzerland, Finland and Austria already have nine points. Meanwhile, USA, Latvia and Hungary all have three points as they fight for fourth place. A loss to the Germans could be disastrous for the defending gold medalist U.S. team.
Seider’s Germans are 0-3, but are not out of it yet. The Americans and Germany play at 2:20 ET. (NHL Network). Detroit player Justin Faulk is USA’s captain and Red Wings prospect Max Plante is on the roster.
