A Montreal Canadiens injury alert has just received a significant update in the middle of the playoffs.
David Reinbacher is recovering from an injury that is visibly frustrating him at practice.
The Austrian right-shot defenseman is clearly not yet back to 100%.
The website DansLesCoulisses shared the information on social media over the last few hours.
“David Reinbacher is recovering from an injury that is visibly frustrating him.”
An update that changes the perception of the young Reinbacher’s situation a little.
David Reinbacher was showing a lot of frustration at practice in Brossard
The Austrian right-shot defenseman had gone to Laval for the playoffs after a brief stint in Montreal this season.
And he was unable to play in the farm team’s last game because of an injury suffered during an elimination game (ironically enough).
That obviously was not a good sign moving forward.
But it did not stop the Canadiens from recalling him once the Rocket were eliminated.
The organization brought in Reinbacher as a Black Ace alongside Adam Engstrom, Florian Xhekaj, and Owen Beck. The main idea being to give them a taste of the NHL playoff experience and provide reinforcements if needed.
In short, there had been complete silence regarding Reinbacher’s health status over the past few days, so it is interesting to get this update today.
Reinbacher will probably not be able to crack the Canadiens’ main lineup during the Eastern Conference Final against the Hurricanes, even though it could have been useful now that Arber Xhekaj appears to have lost Martin St-Louis’ trust.
Reinbacher has all the physical tools (and all the talent) to become a regular NHL defenseman, and that is what all Canadiens fans are hoping for, but he will need to stay healthy.
