Boston Bruins prospect Jonathan Myrenberg had until June 1 to sign with the club, and that deadline passed without a new contract. The Swedish defenseman will now become a free agent. Myrenberg was drafted in the fifth round, 140th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2021 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound blueliner was acquired from the Canucks on October 27, 2022, alongside goaltender Michael DiPietro for Bruins’ 2017 second-round pick Jack Studnicka. Myrenberg had been playing for Linköping in the Swedish League and did not register a point in 18 games this past season.
The 22-year-old is now free to sign with any NHL team if he elects to play in North America.
