If the Red Wings make Cossa available for trade, there is no question that he would generate interest. After all, the 6-foot-7 goaltender is a former first-round pick who has good upside.
Due to this, let’s look at three teams that could trade for Cossa this off-season.
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers need to improve their goaltending significantly this off-season. Tristan Jarry has struggled mightily for them, while Connor Ingram is a pending unrestricted free agent. As a result, it would not be the least bit surprising if they targeted a top prospect goalie like Cossa.

At a minimum, Cossa could provide the Oilers’ goaltending with a bit of a boost as their backup. Yet, if the 23-year-old goalie tapped into his potential and broke out for the Oilers, he could finally give them a long-term answer for their starting goalie role.

Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators could be another team to watch if the Red Wings shop Cossa this off-season. While they have Linus Ullmark as their starting goalie, it’s clear they must upgrade their backup goalie role. Goalies like James Reimer and Leevi Merilainen both had tough years for Ottawa in the backup role, so Cossa could be a nice pickup for the Senators.

While the Red Wings may be hesitant to trade a goalie with good upside like Cossa to a division rival, the possibility should not be ruled out. The Senators have trade assets that could grab Detroit’s attention.

Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers got some excellent goaltending from Dan Vladar this season. Yet, it was a completely different story with Samuel Ersson. The 26-year-old had an .870 save percentage in 33 games this season. With this, the Flyers could look for goalie help, and Cossa stands out as a fascinating option for them.

Cossa would give the Flyers a promising young goalie for their backup role. This would not be a bad thing at all for a Flyers club that is on the rise.
