Just weeks before the 2026 NHL Draft, the Minnesota Wild will be looking for someone new to make their picks. According to multiple published reports, Judd Brackett, the team’s director of amateur scouting for the past six seasons, will be leaving the organization for an elevated role with another team.

Brackett, 49, came to the Wild after a dozen seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. Originally from Massachusetts, Brackett played college hockey at Northeastern and Connecticut College before working his way to the NHL via scouting work in Canadian major junior hockey and the USHL.

Vancouver and Toronto, both of which have hired new general managers in recent weeks, are among the possible destinations for Brackett, who was in the final season of his contract with the Wild.

Brackett’s primary responsibility with the Wild was running the draft, which will begin June 26 in Buffalo. For the second year in a row, Minnesota does not have a first-round pick, having sent it to the Canucks in the Quinn Hughes trade.
